And when a baby bumps his head while crawling under the coffee table,it’s a lesson in spatial relations, another math concept. A toddler knows if his socks don’t match. Preschoolers love rhyming words and repetitions. These examples demonstrate they are learning about patterns. During block play, children begin to understand volume, dimensions, and shapes such as squares, rectangles, circles, and triangles.

All of these math skills occur as children play, but parents may wonder what they can do to reinforce the process. Here are some ideas to consider ... Read More

May 2015

Time for planting…Gardens everywhere - fruit, vegetable, and flower gardens…that is our theme this month. We will be learning about all types of gardens throughout the month.  We are excited that the birds are singing and can’t wait for the flowers to bloom! During Teacher Appreciation Week May 4th – 8th our parents will be honoring our teachers for all the great work they do.  Our celebrations this month include Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, and Memorial Day...a time to remember the people who died while serving in the country's armed forces.  Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and grandmothers and other special women in our lives!  Enjoy your day!

May 2015

The school year is moving very fast.  We are seeing so much growth in the children in terms of both academics and social skills.  This month we continue to be busy and finally spending more time outdoors.  We hope you will visit our table at Rahway Day on May 2nd..  It’s nice to see old faces and share memories through pictures and meet new folks who might become part of our  Busy Bee family.  Each class will celebrate Mothers with a Mothers day tea or ice cream social and “munchkins with mom”.  We are anxious to start cultivating our garden at the Rahway Garden across the street and later in June as well as the entire summer enjoy the fruits and vegetables of our labor. This week the caterpillars are arriving and with tender loving care they will mature into beautiful butterflies, which will be released with pomp and circumstance.  And finally, near the end of the month, we will all enjoy “crazy hair day”.
Hope you will contact us to visit and see how much fun the children are having each day.
